Public Forum: Proportional Voting for Inclusive Communities

Posted in: , ,

It’s time for a new way of voting that works for everyone. This fall B.C. will vote on whether to keep its current voting system (First Past the Post) or move to a proportional voting system. Proportional voting is used in many jurisdictions around the world to ensure that everyone’s vote counts. It ensures that no single party gets 100% of the power with less than 50% of the vote. It makes government more accountable and focused on your priorities (like affordable housing, childcare, better schools). It creates more inclusive communities.

On Saturday June 9th join MLA George Heyman and an expert panel to learn about the upcoming referendum and why updating our voting system is important for your community.
