Join George Heyman for a discussion of rent increases and tenants’ rights

Posted in: ,

Vancouver has a housing affordability crisis. Rents in the city are some of the highest in the country and renters find themselves with few rights and protections. Loopholes such as fixed term leases and the geographic increase clause allow landlords to ignore rent control laws and burden tenants with unreasonable and unaffordable rent hikes.

On Thursday April 6th, Join MLA’s George Heyman and Spencer Chandra Herbert along with Zuzana Mudrovic of the Tenant Resource and Advocacy Centre (TRAC) and City Councillor Andrea Reimer to discuss issues affecting Vancouver renters. The event will feature a public discussion of how to address rising rents as well as a tenant’s rights Q&A with TRAC’s legal team.

Bring your stories – we want to demonstrate that the Residential Tenancy Act needs an overhaul to close unfair loophole and to connect you with other renters.

When: Thursday April 6th, 7:00-8:30PM

Where: 326 West 5th Avenue, Vancouver (Beaumont Gallery)

RSVP:  Space is limited at the venue – Please RSVP here to save a seat
